50 Ways to Celebrate Life after 50 – You’re the perfect age for more fun!

There are many ways to celebrate life in midlife.50 ways to celebrate life after 50

The way you think about celebration and identify what is celebration-worthy is subjective. It’s up to you.

Something weird can happen in midlife though, especially after 50.

Fewer things can seem celebration worthy, for one reason or another.

So…we celebrate less.

I think that’s sad.

I mean, really, being a woman 50 plus isn’t the end of the world! But if you’re not careful, it’s easy to start thinking that it is and opportunties to celebrate just don’t seem like a priority.

Let’s take a look at the definition of the word celebration:

“Celebration is the action of marking one’s pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity.” (from the internet dictionary, Your Dictionary)

What’s really clear about this definition is that celebration is intentional.

You’re basically identifying something meaningful on purpose in a fun way.

When you boil celebration down like this to its essence, it begs the question….why wouldn’t you want to celebrate?

Celebration seems like such a great, feel-good idea, so what’s the problem?

Think about your own celebration habits.

When have you decided NOT to bother celebrating?

Did you feel too busy?

Did it feel like too much trouble?

Were you afraid of what someone would think?

Did it feel too indulgent?

Did it not even occur to you?

Did it seem too silly or over the top?

Did it feel too indulgent?

Did you think that you’re too old to do something like that?

Does it feel “extra?”

These thoughts and feelings are common. Do you relate?

Noticing and deciding to kick things up a notch and intentionally make something “celebration-worthy” doesn’t happen by accident.

Where are you with your celebration meter?

You can tell by looking at your own tendencies. And if you’re not the celebrating type, there’s a reason.

It’s your thinking.

What you believe about acknowledging and marking events and special moments in your life can bring you up or down.

Does celebrating have value to you? Or not?

It’s totally personal. But it’s a great area of your life to consider when you’re in midlife and you want to be intentional about regret-proofing your life.

It’s one of those areas that can be on autopilot.
